Our client is seeking a Settlements Officer to join their dynamic team. This role plays a crucial part in assisting clients with trade matching and settlement, providing an excellent opportunity to grow within a thriving fund services environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently capture, process, match, and settle trades on the accounting system, including Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Unit Trusts/CIS investments, Call Transfers, SWAPs, and FX deals.
- Prepare manual instructions for unlisted trade settlements when needed, such as Physical MM, Private Placements, Offshore investments, and Fund of Fund investments.
- Ensure trades are correctly matched between client notifications and counterparty confirmations.
- Reconcile broker/counterparty accounts and ensure trade details align with company records.
- Report and match Demat Money Market trades on Strate within required timeframes.
- Manage trade statuses and handle all associated requirements.
- Maintain accurate broker settlement and contact details, including brokerage rates.
- Monitor front office trades to ensure seamless STP settlement into the accounting system.
- Compile incident reports and assist in implementing and improving process controls.
- Address internal and external trade-related queries from brokers, clients, and custodians.
- Build strong relationships with clients and counterparties to resolve settlement issues.
- Handle ad -hoc tasks and contribute to projects, particularly in testing and implementing new solutions for trade processing automation.
Experience & Qualifications:
- 2-3+ years of experience in a Settlements role within Fund Services, Investment, or Wealth Management.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial markets and instruments.
- Experience with both local and international markets is advantageous.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce, Investments, or Economics.
